It is to be considered that the problems are not associated only with the screenplay. However, the contemporary era has been bringing us various methods that present an application in playing movies on different home theaters. In most cases, they have to download movies from the Internet or have it played through a simple DVD player. Many people prefer staying in their home and watch movies of their choices. I agree.Home theaters are quite the sparkle for the families in this century. Removing the black bars does not remove any of the graphics. I have my game at 4k and I get the same pixel density of 3840x2160 regardless. play the game as it is and you have bigger field of view. But as I said, the black bars don't bother me one bit. if I wanted to zoom in and remove the black bars, I wouldn't need a mod as my TV has the flexibility to do that with it's own settings of scale. just play the game in 4:3 the way it was intended. here it's just breaking the game and removing a big part of the scene. but in those games, the developer had control to make sure to adjust the game accordingly. 4:3 was actually the bigger field of view and 16:9 was cut outs from top and bottom and zoomed in just like you did here. Many games from previous generation such as Red Dead Redemption and the Gears of War franchise worked like that. I'm aware of everything you said and more. Originally posted by V I D A L:I have no issue with the black bars. Unless you can get that guy to make a patch for a lesser-known game like obscure. Some games would need to be remade completely to support a wider fov. The amount of bugs/issues that arise are endless. Scopes, binoculars, anything like that will now have glitched sides. Players can now see enemies spawn, or characters in a cutscene that were meant to originally be out of frame. As if you glitched through a wall or something. So the left/right sides sides of the screen will have no graphics. Players can now see more screen than the developers originally intended. Here are some examples of the typical issues that arise when you force an old game to have a widescreen fov. So if gog can not do it how do you expect a random player to be able to fix it? And the fact that the developers put black bars into the widescreen resolutions PROVES that the game suffered from the typical issues of stretching a fov on an old game. The GOG version of obscure has no black bars, but the picture is stretched just like mine. Google "Widescreen fix" and click the first link if you want to see the list. Only a few have ever been patched to support a wider fov. Out of all the thousands of 4:3 old pc games. The only other alternative would be user-made patches Which leaves gamers with three options for older gamesġ. Many old games that run in 4:3 resolutions simply can not run in a widescreen fov. Ok mind we take a look at your solution? Criticizing someone for not being able to add a widescreen fov to an old 4:3 game shows how little you know about aspect ratios/old games in general If your have any problems, all of the settings i changed can actually be seen in this single screenshot. And now launch obscure and enjoy fullscreen (albeit stretched) Ok the last option you need to change you need to scroll down a tiny bit. OK WHILE YOUR STILL IN GEDOSATO SETTINGS! Now add your monitors actual resolution! So i added to the list like this (you can delete all the other custom resolutions in that list if you want it doesnt matter) Ok so we know that 1920x1080 isn't wide enough because we see black bars. Click the "Edit settings" buttonĭo you see at the top all the different Render Resolutions in red? These are custom resolutions that will now appear as choices in the games video OPTIONS menu. Now gedosato will know when obscure is running!Īfter you've done all that, it is time to change gedosato's settings. Now add "obscure" to the list so it looks something like this Now launch gedosato.exe and click the 'user whitelist" button. Unzip it then look inside the folder called "pack" to find gedosato.exe (create yourself a desktop shortcut to gedosato.exe it if you want) (click "download or clone" then download the zip file named gedosato-master.
